The Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI) has today issued its advice on prioritisation for the next phase of the vaccine roll out once all those in cohorts 1-9 have been offered the vaccine.
Until then, the NHS continues to offer the vaccine to the groups currently eligible, including those at most risk:
The Sussex COVID-19 vaccination programme is well underway and to date more than 548,735 vaccinations have been delivered across Sussex, including 535,544 first doses.
We expect those aged 60 and over to be invited for vaccination shortly, followed by those aged 55 and over. All those aged 50 and over will have been invited by mid-April.

From next week we will be sending our regular vaccination updates on a Tuesday and Thursday in response to feedback on how we can improve our communications.
Since the start of January we have been sending daily updates to stakeholders to provide the latest information and news on the roll-out of the programme. We have received very positive feedback on the updates but, now the programme is fully up and running and progressing well, people have told they would like them to be less frequent so they do not miss the information we are providing.
We will, therefore, we sending our updates every Tuesday and Thursday from next week and they will continue to be full of the latest updates, news and information to provide the clarity of information that people need.
Alongside our updates, we will continue to send our more detailed stakeholder update every Thursday and all the latest information is constantly updated on our website that can be accessed at any time. We are also ramping up our communications and engagement campaign which aims to provide all the information people need to know about how, why and when they will get the vaccination.
We know that there are many reasons why people might be nervous to have their COVID-19 vaccination when they are invited.
The vaccine is the best way to protect ourselves and those around us from serious illness, and vaccination services have a range of measures in place to make sure the jab is given in a safe environment, including staggered appointments, social distancing and regular cleaning.
In this video, we follow Sandra, who was really frightened about coming for her vaccine. She was pleasantly surprised at how quick and organised the process was and says she recommends everyone take up the opportunity to be vaccinated when it’s their turn.
Much more information about the vaccination programme is available on our website, including details of the services available in each area, latest data, stakeholder briefings, answers to frequently asked questions and links to all the national leaflets and materials.
Thank you for your support in helping to keep our local communities updated and informed about this fast-moving and unprecedented vaccination programme.
