A key part of the ambition for Sussex Health and Care Partnership is to centre improvement and transformation around our places. Our Partnership spans a huge geography and serves more than 1.7 million people. Our counties, towns, cities and villages vary in the needs of their population and in terms of the health and care services available.
It’s vital that we adapt and tailor services to meet the needs of the people they serve rather than expect people to work around organisational boundaries. In Sussex we took the decision to form our places around local authority boundaries; Brighton and Hove, East Sussex and West Sussex.
We know that health and care is so much more than the NHS or even social care. It is about the place you live in, the support services available, access to leisure, economic circumstances and much more. By shaping health and care around the footprints of local councils we are able to have much more joined up conversations around what people need to live healthy, safe and independent lives.
